North Central Illinois | Yeah its a mess to be sure. Country elevators did not appropriately discount last fall. They discounted for test weight and of course moisture. The corn fell apart after the farmer delivered it and it was graded. They had no way to discount for this. By the time they realized it was going to be an issue we were half way through harvest. The ones making the killing are the river and rail terminals. They are docking the elevators hauling the bad corn to them. The docks they are giving the elevators far exceed what they charged the farmer last fall. | |
