| We are not bragging--not complaining--excellent early yeilds. From central Indiana, Hamilton County, North side of Indianapolis, we had very good amounts of rain, scattered evenly from the time we planted (April 15-20 for these feilds)--Becks 299 round up beans--harvested this week--first 9 feilds--small feilds with significant amounts of woods which made quite a difference in the first 50' --yeild weighed across the scales--70.15 BPA.
Observations--these monitors give us incredible insight to what has happened during the season. We have a blend of ground in the same feilds from light colored soil (higher ground) to heavy black soil (low ground)--this season the best yeilds are from our higher ground (normally our poorer ground) with the monitor showing high 70's to mid 80's while the traditionally better dark heavy soil reflects the water effect with yeilds running high 50's to 70.
We are just today into Becks 322 beans with the monitor showing similar to slightly better results--will report yeilds later.
Certainly the best early maturing beans we have ever had. Recognize this is not the whole crop. Corn looks good, but still very wet-our 109 day corn is 25-27 moisture. Would also mention these beans were planted in a conventional system (Sunflower) in 15" rows.
Regards and be safe. | |
