Subject: Re: Can someone tell us what "Force Majeure" is?

Columbia City, IN
It means "superior force" and is a clause in contracts that allows one or both parties to not uphold their end of the bargain without liability because of some intervening act. The intervening act can't be contemplated at the begining of the contract and must be something outside the contracting parties control. As dirtpour2 stated strike, fire, crime, war, or "act of God" are pretty good examples. But the point is that the event must be unpredictable and the damages unpreventable.
