Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA, | I just cant help but think you are looking for a good solution in a situation where there isn't any. With your 10' sidewalls, a pack of 3' only leaves 7' left to utilize, not much taller than a man or a grown cow for that matter. Add that to the conversion cost and possible lack of avaibility of supplies. Also ventilation is a concern with those barns, extra heat and moisture to remove. Heat stress could be a possible concern in summer. I don't know what you are housing in your barn now. I would think long run you will be better off to build a new barn, possibly convert the existing barn to heifers or just simply tear it down and rebuild over the site. Just not a good and clean solution here. Sure you could probably work around it, but really, I would put the money in a new building if at all possible, and build it like you want it. |
