North Central Illinois | Angus, At this time I don't think you can make the case for worse than last year test weights. At least not on a wide scale. The thing that gave us light test weight last year was very late planting with a very cool and wet summer. This year the majority of the cornbelt got planted earlier and we are way ahead on heat units versus this time last year. If things stay hot and dry into August perhaps then a case can be made for lighter test weights from dry conditions. This crop has some issues but at this time I think light test weights are down the list a ways. | |
