Hi Guys,

you need to get out more :)

Germany/France/UK - some variation of tough winter, dry cold spring setting up decent enough but late crops....which have run slap bang into prolonged periods of above average temp, with strong dry breezes and rainfall way way below trend. HERE we had 6mm (quater of inch) rain 24 days ago, (which was just in time at that time having had 5 dry but cool weeks. Dry = no rain but heavy dew.) Since then lots of 24-30 degree days etc and not even a decent dew, never nind a rain.
Friends around Berlin region Germany similar story but temps peaking at disasterous 34 degrees, for several days.

Poland/ Hungary and others ...the same odd high pressure responsible for UK-German weather pulled cold moist air from artic and dumped huge rains on Poland down into Hungary. Danube flooded. Not that unusual, but worse than usual.

Central Russia - winter kill bigger issue than first thought, now also in high temps and no rain (driest hottest since '81). Grain prod estimates slashed from 90+, to 86, to now 80 odd mill tonnes. Could get worse if a regional, once every few seasons, hot dry wind sets in as forcasters fear it might this week. So worlds second biggest exporter behind Canada also has significant issues. Is reckoned to have 24 mill ton of last years in store, but trade already factors this.

Canada is a /the big one, you know the story.

Basically this season it might only be Aus and Argentina that pull their weight..and you guys will be OK overall for production it seems.

best John
