Gentlemen--You must at least consider the possibility that things may not go like they have in the recent past (10-60 years). The concept of deflation is a tough issue to get your arms around because we all are used to the inflation concept. There are comments that "new" pockets of both natural gas and oil have been found right here in the US that could turn the concepts abruptly that have plagued our country since the early 70's. There are firms in the global commodity game that are considering how cheap natural gas could go if these pockets can be tapped successfully. A number talked about is $1.50 for natural gas. Oil could show a similar decline. Would that be bullish for corn? Be very careful being long energy in other than short term plays--the world is changing.
Additionally, it has always been tough to eat that yellow metal. When all you hear is how high will it go--don't always look up.
Let us all pray we are close to an economic bottom globally. We can not prosper if the globe decides to cut back sharply as the answer to curbing deficits. There is a very appropriate economic concept that simply states you can not save yourself into prosperity. We seem to be close to a critical economic point. We do not have the potential bullets available to bail out our systems with stimulous dollars, that shot has been fired. If we can't get a consistent and logical policy direction from our boy's in DC, why would business do any expansion as a result, creating jobs. The lack of effective leadership in DC is taking it's toll on many corporations ability to define a proper course. Too many tough issues remain up in the air.
These are very difficult times, but the face of America is changing, just as it always has in the past.
