SW Saskatchewan | Just got back from Regina in time to have a thunderstorm roll through, tried to hail but didn't last long(enough)!
Also saw a lot of good looking Pea crops, lentils are sure picking up and a lot of yellow visible from Canola.
Lentils are a thin market and might lose their bloom this year but peas are very substitutable- a lot of hog rations in Canada are based on pea protein and the energy is also a selling factor.
Plus the Indian sub-continent has quite an appetite for yellow peas, more and more Chick-peas are being reserved for Ramadan and yellow peas are becoming the protein mainstay-if their incomes rise they are still willing to buy more yellow peas.
Just hope the big Chill in China doesn't slip over the Himalayas.
But then Sk might just be trying for preferential status in the Indian market----word was out today that we have contracted a substantial amount of uranium to India-- a no-no previously because of their stance on the nuclear non-proliferation treaty!
Go figure.
