Yes and I believe that once the reproductive phase starts in corn, most of the plants emphasis will be on that and grain fill. Root growth becomes secondary and will amplify the problem if the rain shuts down.
No shortage of rain here the last two days but we'd be begging for one if we went two weeks without combined with high temps.
