Subject: yellow corn

South of Springfield IL
Flew from Litchfield IL. up by Springfield over to Jacksonville, then to Macomb, east to Lincoln,  south over Elkhart, Illiopolis, Taylorville, then over to  Pawnee, Virden, and back to  Raymond, then back to Litchfield.  About 350 miles worth of looking at nothing but crops.  I have never seem so much yellow corn in 20 years of flying.  Water setting in fields almost everywhere.  Rivers are all swelled, bottoms are all flooded.  Seen a lot of unplanted bean fields up around the Macomb area.  This looks a lot like 1993 to me right now.  The best area I think I saw was in the Taylorville area and Raymond didn't look to bad. I hope things improve with some dryer weather. I didn't see much corn tasseling yet. Based on what I saw on my own farm today, I don't think the crop is as good as last year on my farm.
