sw ontario | as ethanol gets in there blending credits,ect....when we where paying $7 bu. for corn in summer of 2008 the grain farmers said "you stupid bunch of hog guys you should have been hedged way out" so I expect most all corn has been forward sold for the next few yrs. at 4-5 a bu and they have same protection in place for there wheat and soys...we are grain farmers too so I know corn is too "cheap" right now but the dairy, beef, hog, feather business could not take a doubling of there feed inputs as there selling prices where dropping,,,just like if corn had of been at $2 bu. how would we have bought 1,000 mt nH3 or potash...lets all try too "stay in business" rather than blame our best customer for buying our corn at below COP.............by the looks of iron on farms the past few yrs. things have not been too tough...and things always swing too far--be it up or down...and there is 2 hog producers in the world to-day China50% and the rest of the world | |
