Subject: RE: as a livestock and grain farmer

North Central Illinois
I don't know what the answer is either. The livestock industry has to figure out a way to make money feeding $4 corn. The grain farmer existed for far too many years living off LDP's because corn prices were well below cost of production. You are right. It is unfair to blame ethanol. For years we were told as grain farmers that we were raising too much and that we needed to find alternative markets for our product. Well I guess we kind of did that by promoting ethanol through various channels. Now we and ethanol are supposed to be the bad guys ganging up on the livestock guy? That isn't fair either. Again, I really don't know what the answer is. It is a bad situation. I do know that no one is entitled to buy my grain for under cost of production just because it was that way for many years.
