Only real way to do it is if you sell the cash now that is the lowest price you'll get minus the hedge cost so you go long the board and expect it to go up. You now have set your basis to get your cash price. Other way is no cash sale your open to the downside so you short the board the protect downside risk. Now you are open to basis movement good or bad. Either way don't go long without selling the cash first or you are long the crop in the field and on paper. Don't sell the crop and protect downside or you are out then also if the market goes up (you sold at the low and market goes up your puts are also worthless) Somehow some A-hole in chicago will hear about it and roll you like it's there personal job!! to get you out of farming!
