Priceville, AL. | We just finished a sacrificial campaign at our church last night...it was designed to raise funds in addition to the regular tithe...its not about how much each member gives but equal sacrifice....remember the story of the widows mite...Mark 12:41-44.
The planning for this campaign began about 1 year ago...8 members were asked by our pastor to serve on the steering team...
the steering team began meeting about 4 months ago once a week to pray and plan...the last 3 months of the campaign must be the most important thing the steering team has going on in their life...no vacations or missed meetings
Each steering team member is a director over one of 8 different committees...prayer visitor, committment visitor, advance committment visitor, publicity and media, followup, banquet and last but not least the food director
As director you recruit 4~5 chair persons who will recruit their team of 4~5 members....all will be trained to know what to do...
As you can tell there is a lot of participation from the members...lots of teams and lots of excitment...every member of the church will be visited and the reason for the campaign explained...they will be asked to be in prayer about their sacrifice...sermons will be preached...members of the steering committee and other church members will be ask to share their testimony in front of the church on how their sacrifice came about and what it is...not necessarily give the dollar amount but what it is and how God lead them to that sacrifice.
Thats just a small amount of what happens...there are so many blessings...so much excitment, just to hear all the testimonies are a blessing...God will move and touch hearts, lives will be changed.
Like I said we just finished up our campaign...our church was just a small country church a few years ago that God started blessing... were growing and reaching our community and surrounding area...in 3 years because of this campaign we will be very close to debt free if not debt free...
Here are some of the sacrifices that were shared in the testimonies by members...one family sold their SUV and gave that payment because they had a car that was paid for...another member stopped smoking and gave that money instead of buying cigarettes...another member reduced their 401K contributions by 50% and gave that...another restructured their cell phone plan, TV cable and had house phone turned off as their sacrifice. They shared with the church about being hesitant in turning off house phone and using their cell phones because of 911 calls, it would not show house address when using cell phone...but they were told there land line would be able to make outgoing calls because of a requirement that 911 calls be allowed from land lines...so they get a land line for free but only for outgoing calls.
Let me know if you would like to know more
Thanks
Jim
