Oklahoma
I am implying that it is reasonable for a 1500-2000 acre farmer to be able to make a living without being considered a small timer. Most of the BTOs around here do NOT end up with the best quality per acre as they are burning up every hour of the day just to barely get things done rather than having the time to do it right.

In regards to Halliburton farming, I do not think we want our food supply to eventually be ran by just a few large corporations. The family farm is actually a good thing for cheap food. It is certainly evident that every farmer needs on farm storage without a requirement to report to the USDA to tell the traders what is or is not out there. That would lead to more of a true free market than the current system we use now where the grain is already in the system so it doesn't matter if we farmers hold on to it or not. If most farmers had 100% on farm storage, the wheat supply would be what showed up at the terminal when the price was right. It appears that will be an eventuality with these wide basis's that we have been having for several years as the guys who don't have on farm storage will be out of business. Grain bins start to look pretty cheap when you can get a $1 more for your wheat at the terminal than at the elevator.
