Oklahoma | The elevator does not pay more for high protein or high test weight wheat. They sure as hell dock you for low test weights or ryegrass though. Basically if you are not a 5,000 acre farmer with 200,000 bu. bins it sounds like you are too small. This path will lead to Halliburton farming or we will simply start importing wheat from other parts of the world where their inputs are cheaper. Like I said before, we are going to see just how much wheat in storage we have because I am seeing more cotton being put in than I ever have and we can't pay to grow wheat. At least not for another year. | |
