Near Richmond, IN | I'd say it's really nice you're doing that. My wife and I bought our headstones at the same time we purchased ones for my father and mother. Our plots are right beside theirs and it made sense to do it all at once----and the fact that we figured no one would ever get around to putting one up for us. We had the birth and death dates put on my parents stones as Dad was big into the cemetery and always wanted to know when someone was born and died so I asked the guy we bought the stones from (a friend) if we could get a discount if we put the death dates on mine and my wife's now so it wouldn't have to be done later. My wife didn't think it was very funny-but being raised on a farm, death is as much a part of life as living is, so my family always kidded around about it because we always knew it was inevitable. She really didn't like it when I showed her our stones after they were put in and asked it she wanted to lie down there and make sure there was enough room-but she's getting used to my sense of humor now. | |
