Subject: Hunt Brothers in April 1977

Oswald No-Till Farm Cleghorn, IA
Senior,

In 1977 I was a senior in H.S. A single axle straight truck load (300 bu.) bought me a lot of Iowa State University education thanks to the Hunt Brothers soy/silver game.

Relative to the risk/rewards..... the 1950's and 1960's were likely better for many people than times now. Relative margins were better even at lower commodity prices. The bushels of grain/new modern (at the time) tractor or combine ratio was likely better.

In the meats wasn't it often common to see both gain on the critter price as well as gain on feed value through the critter?

It sure seems like a lot of wealth building occurred during those times. That wealth was used as a base when things accelerated in the 1970's which for some was then incredible windfall unless they rode the leverage to the point of sale bill in the 1980's.

Makes one wonder where things are now following this grain windfall period.
