When younger & an employer, I was old school...mgmt style was based upon loyalty & fear. And, is why I am a long time loner...am not a good manager of people. On one occasion unknowingly hired a union organizer & typical of my personality, I react first and seek advice only when I have no other choice (have since changed) & endured several months of 'education' after the feds began to crawl all over my A$$ & the Labor Relations people & the State & a Judge ...& "expert" attorneys ...thereafter, when I hired someone, my first thought became "how do I get rid of this person if I either do not like him/her or is a lousy employee"...had to draft a uniform policy (I did beat the union however, but it was not easy). | |
