I agree that monopolistic forces need to be looked at.  The seed business seems to be very strongly influenced by a certain company's  monopolistic ambitions.  I think a lot of producers are starting to realize that taking the easy way out costs them a heck of a lot of money...but so many have been doing it for so long that it's cut the options quite a bit....there has been litttle development outside of the control of the company because the buyers have habitually been blindly paying whatever cost they were handed without even looking at their other options.
