just a tish NE of central ND | I have welded up numerous pins for 100 hp or less tractors and found it eats up the implement hitches. I did have one that bent in the middle a bit. I do know that introduction of heat to that pin will change the metal composition and hardness/strength.
Now days on the bigger than that stuff, I just buy a pin ($ouch) due to all the horsepower and heavy loads we are putting in front of it. It just feels safer.
Nothing cheap about hitch pins breaking at bad times like on a road with traffic etc..
