Southern IA | Take it for what its worth. Southern iowa. Home place have rural water to all paddocks and typically run 80 pairs on the farm. Would attribute about $175 of the water bill a month to the cows in the summer. 175*6months grazing/80head = $13.13/cow and im not hauling any water, nor would I. Use that same math on 90 head on your deal = $1181.7 or 1.18/acre at 1000 acres. None of those figures factor in the cost of installing miles of pipe or the waterers themselves. Im not sure what labor or water would cost in your neighborhood, but I think you're getting a deal at $3/acre for him having to haul water. It would easily wrap up an hour to two hours a day to haul water id think. | |
