And how are you going to get that pork from the hoof to the box? Every Canadian family butchers a hog in their garage???
Nearly 25% of your pig/hog production comes to the US live. If live pigs/hogs crossing the border gets stopped entirely, those guys will all go broke long before you get a packing plant built and running to handle those hogs.
I'll say it again, Canada should be careful about where/how they try to fight a battle. It could get really ugly really fast for Canada's hog/pork industry if someone does something really stupid, like picking a fight on hogs/pork imports.
