Walker combines are horrible for oat losses compared to a rotor. There is just so much material and with oats being so light it will just walk them out the back. Probably the worst crop to use a conventional on, unless the straw will go to your own cows. I hate to start a brand war but new holland CR's or lexions shine in oats if you are open to that, the more rotor separation area the better if you care about losses
not all conventionals are created equal.
The Gleaner walker has huge square holes as opposed to the small lips of the Deere walker. The former shines in small grains, the latter in corn.
We do oats often and have very little if any walker loss with the L2s. |
