That makes sense. Close the borders to imports and exports. That'll drive the price up.
FYI, Canada hog producers have a lot more to lose at the border than US guys do.
Canada sends a whole lot more pork/hogs to the USA than what you take back.
Canada sells live hogs to US packers who ship cuts to Canada...US Pork's customer taking $850 mil. last yr.
