SE SD | hogman_2002 - 3/27/2025 23:30 In an arrangement like that, who pays for fertilizer, weed management, and fence upkeep? Adam thanks for asking. I pay spray, check and repair fence pre turnout and fertilizer. I do not allow over stocking. The pair number is strictly enforced. I will not allow over grazing and my stocking rate is very conservative. Last several years the tenant has been running bred heifers or steers. They are based at .75 animal units compared to pairs.
The pastures are all good fence with a hot wire run a couple feet in side to keep cattle off the wires. Fencer is tenants responsibility and is required. Cattle escapes are all his to take care of. The pasture on our home place is split in two with a cross over corral where the water tank is located. I do keep an eye on them, Makes for a nice view from the deck :) |
