Do you know anything about the soil it is bearing on? An engineer is going to ask for soil testing and if you don't want to do that, he will assume worst case which means bigger foundation. Deeper isn't necessarily better. Wider is better as long as it has enough rebar.

I would suggest talking to the bin builders in your area and asking who they get to do small job engineering. The leg maker should have standard details but there will be a big note on those that assumes the soil properties.
