Location is a big deal. Phosphorus in the soil doesn't become readily available until 60 degree soil temp. So depending on how fast you can go from 50 to 60 degrees matters. Our cold soils here in east central mn show a response from starter, especially our low P testing fields. Had a 12 row trial by mistake years ago that cost me 40 bushel an acre and 3 to 4 leaf stages. We will continue to put some in furrow here.
