And you should be able to see what the insurance company is using for comparable vehicles. They don't just pull numbers out of the air.
And yes, typically cover taxes. Dealer fees ??? I would think that may be policy specific.
as far as the exact same car.... may or may not happen. Policy/contract language spells out specifically how the loss will be adjusted.
General language I recall is more along the lines of 'like kind and quality' for payment. Not sure many policies replace the item itself. Again, details are in the policy.
and yes, the claim is typically subrogated for the insurance company to recover the pay out if possible. However, this is often easier said than done
fwiw, I have not heard of any company trying to make money off the spread between payout and recovery....
there are lots of old wives tales and mistaken ideas of what has to happen in an insurance settlement, and who has responsibility for what.
