| My grandfather said the last time they threshed oats was 1969 but my grandfather also farmed with horses into the 70’s. Local man owned the threshing machine and ran it with a Case steamer until he retired both of them after running the combo in the local bicentennial parade in ‘76. The man with the threshing machine was a hero of mine growing up even though by the time I knew him he was in his 80’s. Very accomplished machinist, he was truly a mechanical genius that threshed as mentioned but also ran the local sawmill and had a lineshaft machine shop and foundry. | |
