Subject: RE: Silo sizing

candor ny
i came up with about 34 cows. at one point milked 70 and filled a 20x60 for 2 years always running out about early to mid august started fill in about 170 feet in a 9 foot ag bag. would start feeding that when silo ran out. feed more silage and would be in bag june timeframe. cows stayed more consistent on milk. milked 32 ish till 2022 and would just fill a 14x50 and feed it through the winter till june or so then bumped cornmeal up a lot in there grain. they kept production doing that. 2 times i filled the little 14x50 in september and topped of end of october. that was if it was dry and feed was short. combined way more acres then cows ate so always had plenty of corn but not much storage for silage.
