S Mn | I really believe thats a big part of it, I was talking with an older farmer who didn't have anyone directly in line to take over his operation and he told me "if you think its hard to get started farming you outta try quitting" the government scalps you to death tax wise, doesnt take much for equipment to have 1-3 million in equipment alone tax wise if you have a sale they take close to 50% if you sell it in one year. I cant blame them a bit for keeping going, finally get to a place where you dont feel like our standing on the edge of the cliff looking down debt wise and the pressure isnt there I'd imagine thats really enjoyable. Not to mention allot of hard decisions need to get made and the undeniable fact that those of us who love this life its all we know and we dont know what to do with ourselves if we arent doing something ag related. Hanging up your plire and switching from boots to flip flops isnt for everybody. | |
