| i`ve never been to north dakota, so i`m only going by what i`ve heard and read. so, with all due respect. not that many years ago north dakota was cattle and wheat, kind of sparsely populated, you were forced to get along with neighbors ie: help fight fires ect. iowans are friendly & nice of course, but there`s more of us and if the one neighbor wouldn`t help fight a fire, another neighbor one would, so we`ve had the luxury of being more independent.
north dakota relatively recently has gotten into the corn & bean row crop bandwagon and you`re doing quite well with the new varieties and good for you guys. that all said, you guys have no idea of the competition for land that a mature row crop producing states like iowa and illinois have. it`s not uncommon for me to get calls from people that i know and don`t know that want to buy my land, if i wanted to sell, i wouldn`t need a realtor, all i`d need to do is entertain phone calls that i already get. as far as renting land the competition couldn`t be described in a hyperbolic way that would do it justice. such as trying to rent ground at a funeral, trying to rent land when the farmer is in the hospital.
there`s good honest farmers out there to rent to, however you`d have to kiss a lot of toads to find them :-) | |
