Mid Michigan | We cut down a huge 60 year old American Elm tree a few years ago and I counted the tree rings. We still have the stump out there. I can go out there and look at the wet and drought years from when I can remember and they really show up on the rings. We had a very bad flood in 1986 around here in Michigan and there is a very thick ring and a drought the following year in 1987 with a thin ring. It's really interesting to look back and figure out the type of years we had by looking at the rings. | |
