Chris or someone can correct me if I am wrong.
It is my understanding certain speeds are more efficient than others, depending on how much that hydrostatic motor is turning.
It seems my owners manual explained it. Perhaps I am just dreaming?
Yes, the AGCO CVT is more efficient the faster you go in each range, and less efficient at the lowest speeds...really sub 2-3mph on HARD pulls is where they see that. We're most hydraulically powered at those speeds.
The AGCO CVT also has the ability for "overdrive" by swinging the drive motor negative, and turning the planetary ring gear backwards, allowing for high transport speeds at low engine RPM. Not everyone else can do that.

I also attached an old bulletin about education on the CVT from when we were the only OEM with one, and the powershift diehards were telling everyone they would never work...seems like everyone else has a "CVT" option today...
