With fewer small squares put up in hay mows around here every year, most bale fires are round bales. I've never seen a square bale fire suspected of being started by spontaneous combustion. I've seen round bales light up any time of the year, and one or two years old, and the middle of nowhere, where there's no possible way kids or cars were near them.
