Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.
This ideological war, IMO, is akin to the cold war in which America did not become the monster like the Soviet Union. I am confident that we will not become a monster. America has a long history of coming thru adversity and managing to hold on to our morals and ethics, but that is not say we come out wholly smelling like a rose. Sometimes, like the historian Paul Johnson said Moral relativism by the totalitarian regimes during wartime resulted in the allies lowering of their own moral standards. Be that as it may, I firmly believe that once the conflict is over, we will return to moral absolutism, if indeed, we are forced to go down the path of moral relativism., again.
