Southeastern Tipton County, Indiana | NDKFarms - 2/4/2025 08:41 All, We need to lift off the hood on our New Holland T9 to get to the valve cover and replace the gasket. I've watched a few videos on the internet. However, what is the best way to lift off the hood on a tractor like that? Is there a spot to hook on the hood with a large ratchet strap so we can hook onto the strap with a crane? Do we need any supports under the hood when we lift it off? My major concern is how strong these fiberglass hoods are. We've never dealt with them before, so we aren't sure how much weight they can handle. Any pictures of past work would be great. Thanks
This is how we do it. I use two 6 foot x1" for the rear connection and two 8 foot x 1" straps for the front.
The hood is plenty strong and this attachment method is safe.
I get my straps from US Cargo. Your straps are made fresh for you, that way if you need custom lengths it doesn't take extra time to get your order. My orders have always been pretty quick to arrive.
