Near-north Ontario, French River
Clay I assume you are talking IP beans or at the very least white eyes. Interesting bit of info, recently talked to a guy that had travelled to Japan as part of meet and greet with Japanese buyers of Ontario grown IP soys. He said he was surprised to see wharehouses in Japan still stocked with 08 crop IP beans. Buyers said that normally by Janaury they would have started using 09 production but the economy has slowed/changed in Japan just as it has in north america. Demand is way down and supplies are abundant at this point so there is no reason for the Japanese buyers to request movement of beans that are already contracted, and new crop contracts are few and far between. May be a few months before containers start moving at a more normal pace.
