Look at the Platte valley in Nebraska. Almost every field had been leveled for flood there. Now there is no flood and tens of thousands of center pivots. We just don't understand why automated irrigation would be shunned in favor of manual irrigation.

Those asking are not criticizing the southern irrigation practices just confused as to the reasons.


I am just as confused as you. Why does the USDA help to pay towards the cost of leveling in Arkansas? I don't know. What I do know is that it is no good having land with pivots but unable to find a tenant that wants to deal with them and a bunch of pivot dealers/suppliers that want to separate you from as much money as they can as quickly as they can. :( Andy
