Croswell, Michigan | We had a little snag tonight and broke the top of the brass rod off. I drove it back down to get the water to shut off. Fortunately this hydrant only waters a few 4H animals but it’s on the same line that provides water for our shop bathroom and kitchen. There is no way to shut one off without the other so I either need to fix it correctly or leave if off until spring. I have never had a hydrant apart. I googled repair kits and this is what I found. I thought the brass rod went all the way to the bottom. Is it really just a short piece like what is circled? Can I access and replace it by removing the packing nut at the top?
