Yes, Fielders Choice tried it. The coating was called Intellicoat.
Son did a science project on it. Got a quart of seed from a friend that was treated, and another quart that was not treated. First thing I noticed was that the coating was very inconsistent from seed to seed, with some appearing to have no coating at all, looked just like the untreated seed.
Won’t go through everything he did, but suffice it to say he germed that corn at a LOT of different temperatures, and exposed the seed to each temperature for varying amounts of time. Been over 20 years, but IIRC he had something like 800 data points. Results were that the germination of the untreated seed was higher at every temperature he tested it at when tested side by side with the treated seed.

This may be an entirely different product, and probably is, but the concept is the same.
