Faunsdale, AL | No matter the actual hours I bet that pump has been serviced at least once if not twice since new. Hours and abuse like water in fuel and rust would be very correlated to the wear in the head and plungers more than age, but the governor drive ring always seemed to me to deteriorate at a pretty constant rate regardless of hours.
All my pumps that are that age have needed new rotors at last service. Of course they all have plenty of hours. What used to cost $500 for a new governor drive ring, cleanup and calibration now is more involved and costs close to 3X as much by the time the new rotor is figured in. Usually get hard to start when hot. | |
