East Central Arkansas | For water transfer long term to get to the line you are watering from I would use underground pipe or even above ground hard pipe. That pipe would be running the same direction as your rows so won't interfere with field operations. Be sure to size the pipe so you don't restrict the amount of water from your well.
I have no idea as to how your field lays or drainage away from field but might want to break field in the middle. That will reduce the time needed to run water to get out the row and in some soil types can really make a difference in how good a job you do of watering the field. When we leveled our farm it was broke up into several smaller fields. Our largest field is just over 50 ac with the two smallest at 10 ac. We have some fields with rows running east to west and other fields north to south. Tried to do fields to the natural lay of the land to reduce cost and the depth of cuts and fields. I have over a mile of underground pipe on this small farm that has two wells tied into it at different locations. | |
