Most every one of us farmers your talking to on here have had the rug pulled out from under us multiple times through no part of our own. Floods. Droughts. Markets. Disease.
If you can't dust yourself off and figure a way forward it's over.
Sorry but that's the facts.
No offense but the people I've been around that brag about their "high intelligence" I wouldn't trust to drive a wheelbarrow...
In a round about way, I think this has all helped solidify that I need to find a group of innovators and investors to converse with. As you say "no offense", which actually means "please take offense", take baby steps back up the ladder until you are too old and broke. I've taken bold steps because that's what is required to get where I desire to go. But I cannot figure out why every ladder I touch is broken.
I actually did some self reflection today on all the components I engineered, tested, manufactured, and sold. Reality was mountains of "experience" in how to do this better through targeted marketing, identifying the market pool, etc.
Anyway, this all hit home talking to both my dad and some farmers, and the reality of the mental differences. My dad worked his entire life has you gents. He is up at 4:30-5:00 every single day, he did whatever his job or boss needed, never questioning once about the path. He is now over 70, most joints replaced, lots of pain, can't lift over 25lbs due to joint limitations, and he can't wait for his favorite shows to come on. I have realized I think WAY too much about how to do something better. You guys will insult about that not being right, but I guarantee you go buy the next best widget that bales the hay better, feeds the cows faster, or makes your life a touch easier. But maybe not. It's a mental difference. I spend very little time with my Hydro swing to realize that is a joke IMO. I am an efficiency guy and if I can save you guys 8hrs in a bale job, you might care. Otherwise I just a dreamer POS.
I realize we could go through some sort of dance in competence. It won't matter. the prescription in here is the job.
I guess I realized I need to talk to someone that wants to talk real numbers. I have machines, but more than that, the skill and background in good markets. I need to be in a group a like minded people that think like me. Some learn to ace the pond they swim in, others look at what other ponds have to offer, some look to build a brand new pond.
I need to get money players involved. I need someone to get certain monkeys off my back to allow me to do what I do.
