Faunsdale, AL | Don’t think this is an adjustment problem. At least not mine. That’s for when the stick is in the correct notch but the gear isn’t quite engaged.
Of course wear in all the pivots and linkages make that a bigger problem. You adjust the linkage to move the shift collar/shifter cam inside the transmission a little farther in one direction to get the gear fully engaged and if you go too far, then you start having trouble getting into the opposite gear position as you move the stick the other way.
With this deal, the stick should have plenty of travel to move into either gear position from where it’s stuck, but it just won’t move the shift cam, shift fork, or shift collar on the top shaft into engagement with the high gear.
I refer to the gears you push the stick up from neutral to engage as the lows and the ones you pull the stick down from neutral as the highs. If I didn’t have to use reverse or if reverse was past the low gear instead of past the high gear I would be able to live with it better. Backing a machine into an exact position can be “interesting”!
