We ran into that on owner operators, guys owned their own trucks but we were supposed to provide workers comp.
Fortunately, in Iowa they could opt out.
When it first came up they told us, ( I think) 17% of the gross revenue. Definitely not doable.
Later I think it was amended to 17% of 25% of the gross revenue. Which would be close to 17% of what a driver would make
Now I am in kind of no mans land with workman's comp.
I don't have enough for a company to take me on. I just do without help to stay under the limit.
