Sometimes it’s hard to tell because your most productive ground is typically your quickest to dry out and be fit to run (atleast in my case). I didnt get any beans planted early this year but those that did get some mid-April beans in said there was a bigger spread than usual. The best beans I have ever raised were planted the day after Easter in 2023.

It doesnt need to be a fancy setup either. Any tractor, preferably with a cab, pulling something that gets seed in the ground and covered up will work. ;)

Easter? That amazes me. Your not that far south of me, but i might still be plowing snow! No wonder you guys have better crops than I do.

Not positive where you are- probably west of the Thumb? If so, I realize the weather in the spring can be a little different in the Thumb vs other areas of the state. But- we decided after trying different planting dates a few times, that soybeans like to be planted in a month that starts with M. If we missed it in March, we planted corn in April. Soys in May is how it seemed to work out. Usually never planted corn as early as sugar beets were going in though. I think cool soils bother corn seed more than it bothers soybean seed. So, if the moisture was right (a bigger concern that soil temps usually) in March, we had no issue getting at least a portion of soys planted.

We had a soybean intellicoat treated/ untreated plot many years ago. Stared planting in December, planted a small area every month after until May. The results from that were surprising, and educational as well.
