I'm not clear....which beans were 20 bu better? The early plant or the later plant?




Early group bean planted early is a clear winner. In a wet spring where planting is spread out. An early April planted vs mid may planted can easily be 10-20 bu better. I'll always start beans first. Id rather plant my corn twords end of April when conditions are more favorible and can be out of the ground in a few days. We see higher corn yields that way. But the drawback is wetter corn at harvest. But I'll take 250-275 bu corn @21 than 225-250@ 18. We don't have that good black dirt that warms up quicker.
