Many great responces to your post. You do sound depressed and need some counseling as was stated.
Your next move needs to be getting a job, any job. if nothing else to re engage
with people.
You are not alone with had big plans and those doors are or seem to be shut. Thinking a bunch of money will solve all your problems is a joke at best.
Do you think I planned at 60 yrs. old I would be fixing toilets and broken windows for a bunch of collage kids rental houses? NO! But what I realize is this "path" puts food on the table and a roof over my head.
My plan was Farming, and some Woodworking. My body has said this path i'm on now isn't so bad.
I make good money being a self employed Handyman. Didn't have enough acres to make a living so have rented my few acres out. Have been self employed for 35 of last 42 years. Doing every building trade out there. I've built houses, designed house remodels, custom cabinet building, and have always been very good with livestock.
I'm way under paid for what I "bring to the table", but I'm the best Handyman around. And I will be the 70 yr old Handyman that you call to take all day(because I will move slower by then) to put in some windows because you want it done correctly. I didn't "plan on this" but things change. You always have to move forward.

Thats reality of life.

I will say that’s an excellent post , I retired , sold my shop and farm . We then moved way down here where I basically knew no one . Some of us like people and being around people. I’m getting a job , don’t care if it’s stocking shelves at grocery store . My wife still works . For me anyway it’s been a bit mentally stressful being by myself most of the time . A person needs a porpoise in life .
My dog sure gets rubbed and talked to a lot .The ladies at the vet clinic could not see how I could look at him and he knew what I wanted him to do . I told them , he can look at me and I know when he needs outside . My advice would be get out and get about it .
